In addition to the hundreds of thousands of government workers and all those that are impacted in various ways by the government shutdown LSPR has been impacted and has created an alternate plan. With the USDA Forest Service shut down the Kenton District has advised us that our use permit has been suspended. While it won’t be the rally we want to put on – we will be forced to lose a significant number of stage miles – it will still be a full two day
event in the beautiful north woods. There is an official press release on the Rally America website.
Given the timing of the shutdown and the work that is involved with securing permission and permits for road use we have elected to spend more time on the Baraga County roads. I have completed the alternate schedule at this point and the alternate routebook is nearly complete and will be going to the printers on Monday.
If Washington is able to reach an agreement that would re-open the government prior to Wednesday October 16 and we are advised by the Rangers of Kenton District that our permit is once again valid LSPR would likely revert back to the original schedule.
We will press on.
