Henry Krolikowski
Henry Krolikowski was a kind and gentle man. He died on April 11, 2019 after an eleven week struggle with asymptomatic stage iv mesothelioma. He loved and was loved by his wife of nearly 38 years Cindy, and his brother Edward Krolikowski (Carole), sister Christine Furchak (John), and sister Rosanne Flachsmann (Michael). His brothers-in-law considered him a brother, as did he, William Hodges (Cynthia), Russell Hodges (Amelia), and Allan Hodges. Known variously as Unc, Uncle Bruno, and Uncle Hottie, Henry spread his warm embrace and teasing ways around his nine nieces and nephews.
A nearly 50 year employee of DTE Energy, Henry was the calm and competent presence as he went about his job as a substation operator. Henry was proud of being a veteran, serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era.
Henry was an accomplished automobile racer, participating in the sport of rally racing for over 40 years, first as an event volunteer and then competing in his own car. His co-driver for most of his career was his wife Cindy, but he started out with brother-in-law John Furchak in the right seat. Henry and Cindy won two Sportscar Club of America National championships in 1996 and 1999 respectively, and many divisional and regional championships overall or in their class. Henry also participated in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Long live car #44!
A true gentleman with an impish smile and warm heart, Henry will be remembered forever by those who knew him.
Henry Krolikowski: A life well lived.
