Jacob 'Jake' Benjamin Himes, 33, of Duluth died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth after a struggle with cancer.
He was born May 23, 1974 in Minneapolis and moved to Marquette, Mich., in 1979, graduating from Marquette Senior High School in 1992. Jake attended college at Michigan Technological University, where he studied skiing, volleyball, driving, and forestry. He was awarded a degree for the latter. Jake married Danielle Tuominen in the summer of 1997. They soon moved to Duluth and started a family. He made a career as a forester, eventually becoming the founder and owner of the Family Forests Company. He was a member of Forest Management Systems Cooperative.
He participated in the coordination of the Maxattack Rally Series. Jake enjoyed rally racing, talking about wood, sauna, and the company of his friends and family.
