What to Expect
Below is some basic information about spectating that will make your experience at LSPR more enjoyable
-
Make a plan
-
You will not be able to spectate every stage, the schedule and times to move between are too tight.
-
Similarly, going to Parc Expose, Service, or the Podium may mean having to skip a stage.
-
-
Have a plan ahead of time, but know that schedules and delays are common and be prepared to adjust.
-
LSPR will try to make delay announcements on social media as they happen.
-
-
-
Expect to not have cell service - Although reception is getting better across the UP, there are still plenty of areas on the stages where there is no coverage. Download the spectator guide, download offline maps, and let others know of your plans.
-
Arrive Early - when heading to a spectator area, plan on arriving at least an hour before the first car starts. Driving the forest roads, parking and turning around, walking to the spectating area, and then finally getting set up takes time.
-
Understand that some spectator areas have thousands of people, and everyone has to come in via the same narrow forest road.
-
Plan for long walking - depending on how early you get to a spectator area you may be walking a mile or more once you park to get to the corner.
-
-
Spectator area info
-
Some spectator areas require you to view from across the road where you come in. You must arrive early enough to cross the road before 00 comes - 30 or minutes or more before the first competition car - and stay until all competitors and the safety cars have passed.
-
See the Course Cars page for more information on the 0 cars
-
-
One average, plan on being at a spectator area for at least 2 hours.
-
Sometimes getting out can take longer than getting in!
-
-
-
Competition info
-
The first few cars are released two minutes apart, and then the rest of the field at one minute increments.
-
However, this does not mean they always stay that far apart. Don't assume just because a car just went by there can't be one right behind it.
-
In some conditions, dust minutes can be added to all cars, where they are all 2 or more minutes apart.
-
-
-
What to bring - although none of this is required, bringing the following along may make the spectating experience more enjoyable. Keep in mind you will have to carry it for potentially long distances from your car to the spectating area.
